Ahmed Yasin was the founder of Hamas and ordered the murders of 377 people among whom there were 38 Amrican citizens. He was killed by the Israel Defense Forces. Al Awda San Diego condemned his being killed. This is archived on their website:

SJP San Diego State is sponsor of the Al Awda event at La Mesa Center. See 6th entry down:
Go down three more entries next and see fund raising for Viva Palestina and George Galloway by the same sponsoring group of Al Awda and SJP SDU. I provided proof in an earlier blog entry below that Galloway and Al Awda brought money to Hamas with Viva Palestina last week not as humanitarian aid but as aid to the Hamas terror infrastructure.

Raising money for terrorist fronts like PCRF:
Al Awda lists PCRF (Palestine Childrens Relief Fund) as one of its affiliates and for whom they will raise money at the event in La Mesa (according to their websites):

The list can go on and on. This event is a fund raising event for terrorism and a planning session on how to attack Jews. They may have some Jewish radicals fronting for them, but they do not belong in a taxpayer-supported faciltiy in your town.

Here is more about the Hamas's Charter that Al Awda supports:
http://www.mideastweb.org/hamas.htm
One of the most ominous aspects of the Charter however, is this Hadith
Moreover, if the links have been distant from each other and if
obstacles, placed by those who are the lackeys of Zionism in the way
of the fighters obstructed the continuation of the struggle, the
Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to the realisation of Allah's
promise, no matter how long that should take. The Prophet, Allah
bless him and grant him salvation, has said:
"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight
the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind
stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O
Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the
Gharkad tree, would not do that because it is one of the trees
of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Muslim).
The implication is clear: Allah promised that the Jews will be murdered, and the Hamas "aspires to the realisation of Allah's promise, no matter how long that should take." This is what they mean by "The Return." They parade a few radicals of marginal Jewish ancestry among them as proof they are not anti-Semitic, but those individuals are usually more radically anti-Semitic than non-Jewish anti-Semites.
Abe Greenhouse is one of them and may be at the event.
Please come and protest this event in front of the La Mesa Community Center on February 13th from 9am to 6pm. Bring signs. In the meanwhile, while there's still time, email Mayor Madrid and demand he cancel the event and why:

My Hadassah group is coming- some of us are going inside to document the anti-Semitism, but a few of us will stay outside to protest. This group should not be granted the legitimacy of a community venue- let them find a cave somewhere.
Hadassah? Girls, Give us a break! Stay away. The La Jolla JDL is committed to taking care of these anti-Semites in our inimitable style. You might just want to keep your distance. Or at least park far far away from the venue.
You know the bad guys are quaking in their bots when they start with teh spamming....
Your work, we assume?
Two activists from the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) were arrested early Sunday morning from their apartment in Ramallah, Palestine. ISM is known for its extensive documentation of Israeli military and settler violence. These arrests happened just days after two journalists were arrested while documenting a military invasion in Bilin village outside Ramallah, adding to the lengthening list of Palestinian and International media who have been targeted and arrested while documenting and publishing information related to the struggle for a free Palestine.
At three in the morning, the Israeli army forcefully entered an apartment in the Area A city of Ramallah and arrested two activists from the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) on suspicion of overstaying their visas. The two, Ariadna Jove Marti, a Spanish journalist, and Bridgette Chappell, an Australian student in the Beir Zeit university, were then taken to the Ofer military prison located inside the Occupied Territories, where they were handed over to the Israeli immigration police unit “Oz”.
According to Ryan Olander, an American solidarity activist who was at the scene during the raid, around ten soldiers forcefully entered the apartment and demanded to see the passports of everyone who was present and informed the two of their detention on the grounds of overstayed visas. The soldiers confiscated cameras, a computer, pro-Palestinian banners and ISM volunteers’ registration forms.
Israeli attempts to deport foreigners involved with Palestinian solidarity work are part of a recent campaign to end Palestinian grassroots demonstrations, which involves mass arrests of Palestinian protesters and organizers. Over the last ten months, the “Oz” immigration unit illegally arrested and attempted to deport four other international activists.
Eva Nováková, a Czech national and former ISM media coordinator, was arrested in Ramallah on January 11th, 2010, and deported the next day, before the deportation could be appealed. Nováková’s lawyer is currently in the process of preparing an appeal to the Israeli High Court to challenge the legality of her arrest.
yes, people, come and document the event- but be careful, you may learn something. if you're bigotry isnt stronger than ignorance (starting with the term 'semite') then this is the place for you- anyhow, we could use the publicity. we need your help.
ma'asalama...
Mazullah- I went to Al Awda a few years ago and found it appalling- I'm a queer Arab, and the session I went to on feminism actually said the rise of female suicide bombers showed how progressive Islam was becoming. Honor killings were dismissed as "crimes of passion"- fuck that- they are first degree murder!
Al Awda is only appropriate for right wing partriachial MEN- I advise all progressive thinkers men and women alike to keep away from this travesty.
Lee- a coalition has formed of 7 separate local advocacy organizations to address and monitor the Al Alwda Conference. We call it the Israel Solidarity Movement (ISM for short)
Please note: The JDL has been deliberatly excluded from our coalition because of serious concerns regarding their tactics and their refusal to abide by our basic rules of decency.
